Richard Donald Fredrickson, 71, of Hoyt Lakes died on May 21, 2017, at St. Raphael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. Richard was born in Crosby, Minnesota on January 29, 1946 to Raymond and Eleanor (Driver) Fredrickson. He graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School in 1965 and was employed by Erie Mining Co. and LTV Steel until his retirement. He played in many local dance bands including Euphoria, The Avantis, and The Twilight Trio and Terry to name a few. He had a beautiful voice and sang for many weddings, funerals and events and was a member of the choir at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes. He taught numerous local guitar players how to play including, most importantly, his son, Keith. He was an active member of Biwabik Masonic Lodge #293 A.F.&A.M., the Grand Lodge of the State of Minnesota and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #262 in Biwabik. He was a kind and gentle man with a quiet nature. Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Fredrickson, daughter, Sarah Fredrickson, both of Hoyt Lakes, and son, Keith Fredrickson of Virginia, MN, step-children Nissa (Jeff) Evenson of Makinen, MN, Tabitha (Jason) Meixner of St. Louis Park, MN, and Preston Rogers of Hoyt Lakes, MN, grandchildren August, Jack and Teresa Moehrke, Caleb and Elias Belgarde, and Orion and Finley Evenson, sister, Diane (Michael) Holbeck of Two Harbors, MN, and brothers, Dennis (Marcia Bradach) Fredrickson and Gary (Marla) Fredrickson, of Hoyt Lakes, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and grandchildren, Malachi and Kaden Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Minnesota Masonic Charities would be appreciated. Memorial Service will be 9:30am Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5-7pm with a Masonic Service at 6pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will also begin at 9am at church on Thursday. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
