Funeral Mass for Evelyn L. Mirau, 93, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Interment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Evelyn died peacefully Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born July 16, 1923 in Bennettville, MN to Nels and Amolia (Schroeder) Olson. Evelyn was a graduate of Aitkin High School and later married Raymond Mirau on August 29, 1946 in Deerwood. In 1957, they moved to Hoyt Lakes where she babysat for several families. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, gardening and picking berries. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include her children: Joseph (Beverley) of Hoyt Lakes, Gregory (Robynne) of Duluth, Patrick “Kirby” (Patricia) of Hoyt Lakes and Florence (Rodney) Hjelm of Linton, ND; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Amolia; husband, Raymond; five brothers and four sisters. She was devoted and loving to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
