Funeral service for Violet Mae Christensen, 95, of Aurora, will be 10am Friday August 18, 2017 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Palo with Pastor Eric Thiele officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7pm with an Eastern Star service at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Rauha Cemetery in White Township, MN. Violet died Friday, August 11, 2017 at her home in Aurora, MN. She was born September 9, 1921 in Money Creek, Minnesota to Thomas and Ella (Nelson) Kingsley. She attended school in Money Creek and later married Norman Christensen on June 18, 1942 in Houston, Minnesota. The couple dairy farmed in southern Minnesota prior to moving to Palo in 1956. Violet was a homemaker and raised her six children. In 1971 the family moved to Whiteface which she greatly enjoyed. In 1995 she and Norman moved to Aurora. Violet was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, the Biwabik Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Senior Bowling League. She enjoyed dancing but found her greatest pleasure at the Whiteface cabin with family. Survivors include her children: Dale (Carelyn) Christensen of Monterey Bay, CA, Norma (Charles) Stephens of St. Charles, Joanne (Tom) Hakala of Markham, Terry (Becky) Christensen of Britt, Vickie (Gordy) Popovich of Aurora and James (Pamela) Christensen of Duluth; 14 grandchildren: Brent, Scott, Bradley, Cory, Jeri, Lori, Bethany, Kayla, Brittany, Morgan, Jillian, Amanda, Jason, and Marisa; 21 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norman, great granddaughter,Tanisha, siblings: Lavonne Sasse, Allen Kingsley, Erwin "Bud" Kingsley and Naomi Dangelo.
