Daniel Craven

Memorial service for Daniel John Craven, 51, of Aurora will be 2 pm Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Dennis Bartell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Daniel passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his home. He was born on July 29, 1966 to Richard and Michele (Huerd) Craven in Two Harbors. Dan grew up in the Twin Cities. As a child he was awarded the Timothy Award in the Awana Program through his church. He graduated from Anoka High School Class of 1985. Following school, Dan started working at a plating company in the Twin Cities. He was married to Sherry Stigen on May 31, 1994. The couple lived in Hibbing where Dan was employed by Noble Industries. Most recently Dan had been employed by Lakehead Construction. Following his divorce Dan found happiness when he was married to Roxanne Bartell-Peterson on September 19, 2015. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed agate and bottle hunting and was a talented artist. He created lamps, walking sticks, and furniture. Dan took the greatest pleasure in his two sons and watching them play hockey. He was a member of the Local Labor Union 1097. He will be remembered as having a huge heart, always willing to help, and having had the “gift of gab”. Survivors include his wife: Roxanne; five children: Richard (Chelsea Mineheine) Craven of Mt. Iron, Jakob Craven of Aurora, and Starr (Isaiah Deyo) Peterson, Jacob Peterson and Noah Peterson all of Forest Lake; honorary children: Jordon Aune and Haylee Donnelson as well as many others; his mother: Michele “Mickey” Gervais of Anoka; siblings: Faith Craven, Ann Gervais, Holly (Ron) DeBoer, Trisha (Ed) Searls, and Michelle Gervais; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Craven; stepfather, David Gervais; brother, Rick Craven; and aunt, Jean Hall.
