Funeral service for Dorothy Mae Hill, 85, of Eveleth, will be 10:30am Monday, August 28, 2017 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Eveleth Cemetery. Dorothy died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, MN. Dorothy was born May 28, 1932 in Ellendale, North Dakota to John and Esther (Schandelmeier) Rowe. She was a graduate of Buhl High School and later attended the Virginia Junior College. On August 9, 1952 she married George Hill in Buhl. Dorothy began working for Federal Cartridge in Arden Hills, later for Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory in Gilbert and for several years as a laborer at US Steel. Dorothy was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Eveleth. She enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, sewing and playing cards. Survivors include her children: Ronald (Cheryl) Hill of Aurora, Matt Hill of Biwabik, Kevin (Carrie) Hill of Aurora and Rebeca (John) Hannula of Anoka; nine grandchildren: Ronald, Joe, George, Chad, Anthony, Daniel, Nicole, Jeremy and Joseph; eight great grandchildren; siblings: Delores Samarzja of Buhl, John (Judy) Rowe of Hibbing and James (Mary) Rowe of Buhl; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Jeffrey and brothers, Stanley and Charles.
