Memorial service for Scott Donald Swanson, 58, of Chisholm formerly of Hoyt Lakes will be 11 am Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Eric Thiele officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.. Scott died Monday, August 28, 2017 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1959 to Donald and Emma (Aidezsek) Swanson in Ashland, WI. Scott grew up in Hoyt Lakes and graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School, Class of 1977. Following high school, Scott was employed by US Steel until being laid off during the 1980’s. Scott then returned to school to study refrigeration in St. Cloud. Scott had also been employed as a vehicle salesman in the Twin Cities. Upon returning to the Iron Range, Scott worked for L & M Radiator in Hibbing and most recently for L&M Supply in Virginia. Scott was an avid hunter of both large and small game. He enjoyed the outdoors including snowmobiling and riding his ATV. Scott took great pride in remodeling and maintaining his home and yard. He will be remembered as “handyman” and a true people person. Survivors include his parents: Donald and Emma Swanson of Hoyt Lakes; siblings: Jeffrey (Sherill) Swanson of Mt. Iron, Chris (Vicki Poupard) Swanson of Aurora and Kevin Swanson of Hoyt Lakes; one nephew: Levi Swanson of Aurora; uncles: Leonard, Tony, Jerry and aunts: Audrey, Vivian, Gloria, and Carole; former wife: Kelly Swanson of Maple Grove; Stepdaughter: Ashley Tighue of Maple Grove; honorary grandchildren: Trinity and Tristen Tighue; as well as numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Swanson and his beloved dog, Sadie.
