Funeral service for Joyce Luverne Knutson, 91, of Eveleth will be 1 pm Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Pastor Mickey Olson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery at a later date. Joyce died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. She was born on October 11, 1925 to Arthur and Anna Belle (Windahl) Swan in Marsh Grove Township, MN. She grew up on her family’s farm in Marsh Grove. Joyce graduated from the Newfolden High School. Following school, she met and married Sidney Knutson. The couple moved to Tacoma, WA, later returning to Newfolden where they started their family. In 1951, the family moved to the Iron Range where they have resided ever since. Joyce enjoyed sewing, baking, and preparing for holiday celebrations. She took the greatest pleasure in her family and especially loved being a grandmother. Survivors include her children: Susan Ritacco of Racine, WI, Constance (David) Cook of Grafton, WI, Mark (Pam Omersa) Knutson of Eveleth and Gene (Ramona) Knutson of Eveleth; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother: James Swan of Holt, MN; sister: Sonya Pederson of Thief River Falls, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; a grandson: David; and siblings: Vernon, Wendell, Robert, Lois, Dorothy, and Jean.
