Terry Thorne

Memorial service for Terry Lee Thorne, 84, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Monday, October 9, 2017 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Aurora/Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Terry died peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Tuesday October 3, 2017. Terry was born January 13, 1933 in Sandstone, Minnesota to Everend and Mirriam (Hibbard) Thorne. He was a 1950 graduate of Virginia High School and later served in the US Army stationed in Hawaii. On September 3, 1955 he married Margaret Putzel in Virginia, Minnesota. Terry worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from there as a Foreman in August 1985. He was also employed by Mesabi East Schools as a Bus Driver for nearly 20 years and also served as statistician for the Mesabi East Girls Basketball Team for many years. He was an avid trap shooter and a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. He had also served as a past board member for the Hoyt Lakes Credit Union. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marge; children: Susan (Tony) Bertucci of Virginia, Connie (Michael) Andrescik of Mt. Iron and Greg (Barbara) Thorne of Britt; grandchildren: Breann (Dan) Thorne Stanzel, Marty (Cheyenne) Thorne, Alex Thorne and Katryna Bertucci; great granddaughter: Sophia Grace Stanzel; brother: Tom (Karen) Thorne of Colorado; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Orland and Donald.
