Funeral service for Frank Myron Gruden, 74, of Biwabik will be 10 am Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Biwabik with Fr. Peter Lambert officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with a rosary service at 5:45 p.m.. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honor will be accorded by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes-Biwabik Color Guard. Frank died Thursday, October 05, 2017 at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. He was born on October 4, 1943 to John and Josephine (Remskar) Gruden in Mirna Pec, Yugoslavia. Frank served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1965 to 1968. He worked at Erie Mining/LTV Steel for 36 years as a welder/millwright. Frank enjoyed music immensely. He played bass guitar and sang for over 46 years in various bands on the Iron Range such as Gravel, the Gamblers, Kramer’s Knights, and the Range Country Show. He never missed an opportunity to help those in need either through lending a hand, donating time to music benefits, or by simply making you smile with his unique, charming, and sincere outlook on life. Frank was a man of many talents however his greatest accomplishments were as father, brother, son, uncle and friend. All who held him dear will miss his infectious laugh, huge smile, and kind ways. Survivors include his daughter: Angel (Grant) Johnson of Britt; one brother: John (Shan) Gruden of LaCrosse, WI; two sisters: Mary (Robert) Hall of Aurora and Valentina Selleck of Apple Valley; one nephew: Brad Hall of Aurora; as well as many many friends. He was preceded in death by two nephews: John and Steve Gruden; three sisters: Breda, Sanda, and Anastasia; aunt and uncle: Ivanka and August Kovac and his parents.
