Wallace E. Sten

Memorial service for Wallace Edwin Sten, 87, of rural Gilbert, will be held at a later date in Biwabik. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Wallace died Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehab in Eveleth, MN. Wallace was born July 19, 1930 in Biwabik, MN to John and Ida (Peterson) Sten. He was a 1949 graduate of Horace Mann High School and later served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. On May 15, 1954 he married Donah Aase in Biwabik. Wallace worked for the DMIR Railroad and laer for Erie mining Company. He retired from LTV as a railroad engineer. Wallace was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, the Peterson-Lofquist-Bronczyk American Legion Post and the Eshquaguma Country Club. He was a former member of the Biwabik Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Donah; daughter, Debbie (David) Kriska of Gilbert; grandchildren: Matthew Kriska of Ukraine, Kelly Popovich of Chanhassen and Brittany (Mike) Strelow of Rochester; great grandson, Miles Popovich. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sally Rask; sisters, Alice Fox and Mildred Shank.
