Douglas Butzke

Douglas Wayne Butzke, 72, of Hoyt Lakes, MN died Sunday, December 10, 2017. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years Janice (Pairolero), daughter, Angela (RJ) Stanek and son, Ryan (Dianna); His three pride and joys- Grandchildren: Anicka Lee Stanek, Adeline Mae Butzke and Nicholas George Butzke all of Hoyt Lakes; His companions Jack and LuLu; Grand dog’s Bandit, Potter and Cutie Pie and his little furry friends S’mores and Blackjack; also survived by brother Hilbert Jr. (Delores) of Davenport, Florida, two nieces and two nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents Hilbert Sr. and Myrtle; and a sister Betty. Doug was born in Ely, MN and grew up in Forest Center, graduating in 1963 from William Kelly High School in Silver Bay, MN. His family then moved to Ely where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service. In 1969 Doug and Jan were married and lived in Ely. In 1970 they moved to Hoyt Lakes to raise their family. Doug worked for U.S. Steel, retiring in 2001 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed spending time at the shack with his family and dogs. He loved reading, drawing and playing cards with his grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held from 11 am – 1 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
