Funeral Mass for Kirja Mae Kishel, 18, of Eveleth, will be 11am Friday, December 22, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia with Fr. Brandon Moravitz as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and will continue for one hour prior to the mass on Friday. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Kirja died Sunday, December 17, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. Kirja was born October 12, 1999 in Duluth, Minnesota to David and Kristina (Kowarsch) Kishel. Kirja was an outgoing, fearless, fun-loving individual who enjoyed everything from deer hunting to dirt bikes, fishing and camping. She was a goofy girl who had her own personality. She especially enjoyed time spent with friends and family, and when she wasn’t with friends, you could find her sleeping. Kirja was currently a Senior at Virginia High School. She played forward and center for the junior and varsity Eveleth-Gilbert hockey team. Kirja will be missed by many family and friends that touched her life. Survivors include her parents, David and Kristina Kishel of Eveleth; brother, Kaleb; grandparents: Gene and Laura Kowarsch, Marjorie Hible, Charlie Kerntz and John and Marion Kishel, Dave and Kathy Homola; aunts and uncles: Eugene (Mary) Kowarsch Jr., Kevin J. Kowarsch, Kerry Kowarsch, Kim Puzel, Korry (Jessie) Kowarsch, Brad Kishel, Kristen (Kurtis) Gauthier, Dana and Billie Jo; several cousins including: Zach, Gabe, Briana and Alissa. She is preceded in death by her aunt, Kelly Kowarsch and beloved dog, Tiny Tim.
