Funeral Service for Frank G. Erchul, 92, of McKinley, will be 11am Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Biwabik with Fr. Peter Lambert officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Frank died Tuesday February 6, 2018 at New Journey Residence in Biwabik. Frank was born January 3, 1926 in McKinley, MN to Joseph and Angeline (Zgonc) Erchul. He attended McKinley and Gilbert Schools and later served our country during WWII in the US Navy. On October 14, 1950 he married Elaine Furlong in Biwabik. Frank worked in various capacities for US Steel, State of MN Highway Department, Hercules Dynamite and retired from Eveleth Taconite. His passion was fishing at Trout Lake and deer hunting at Whiteface. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding the deer at his home in McKinley. He was a member of the Gilbert VFW Post and St. John’s Catholic Church in Biwabik. He served as meter reader, a Little League Baseball coach and volunteer fire department member all for the City of McKinley. For the past 20 years he was devoted to caring for Elaine while she struggled with dementia. Survivors include his children: Rene (Richard) Lind of Virginia, Gary (Robin) Erchul of McKinley and Dawn (Arthur) Iverson of Robbinsdale; grandchildren: Shari Erchul of Gilbert, Amber (Robert) Prout of McKinley and Ariel Iverson of Robbinsdale; great grandchildren: Abbie, Kayin, Cecilia, Noah, Gabriel, Micah and Isabella; sisters: Ann Gerzina of Duluth and Fran Rojeski of Biwabik; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elaine (2016), Sisters: Angie and Patricia; Brother: Joseph.
