Funeral Service for Sharon Lee Anderson, 82, of Virginia will be 11 am Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in (Midway) Virginia with Pastor John Brooks officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Sharon went home to the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, MN due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She was born July 2, 1935 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Lloyd and Lorraine (Chilcote) Holien, who later divorced. A few years after Sharon's birth, her mother Lorraine was united in marriage to Edwin Skarp. When Sharon was just 14 years of age, her mother died from medical complications. Sharon was raised and loved dearly by her father Edwin. Sharon was a graduate of Virginia High School and later attended Virginia Junior College. She worked at First National Bank in Virginia and Red Owl Grocery as a bookkeeper. Later she worked as a secretary in the Geology Department at US Steel and worked many years as a secretary and in recruitment for East Range Clinics. On February 27, 1988 she married Carl Robert Anderson. Sharon was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School instructor, a pianist, a soloist and served on several church committees. She was also active in the Christian Women’s Club. Sharon enjoyed reading, crocheting and was an excellent cook, but her greatest joy was being around those she loved and cherished every one of those moments. Survivors include her husband, Carl Robert “Bob” Anderson of Virginia; sons: Paul (Kathy), David, Steven (Kim) Brinkman, all of Virginia; daughter-in-law, Sue Brinkman; step-children: Chris (Brian) Johnson, David (Sue) and Brian Anderson; daughter-in-law, Lynette Anderson; grandchildren: Adam (Katie), Rachel, Dylan, Heather, Evan, Ethan and Hailey Brinkman, Chad (Emily) and Scott (Amber) Johnson, Esther Anderson, Ryan (Dina), Alicia and Cassie Anderson and Angela Grecco; six great grandchildren; many precious cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Chilcote Skarp; father, Edwin “Eppie” Skarp; son, Mark Brinkman.
