Melvina Carlson

Melvina “Mel” Carlson, age 86, passed away March 1, 2018 at Carefree Living in Aurora, Minnesota. Mel was born on July 10, 1931 in Washburn, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Clarence and Melvina White. Mel married Rudy Carlson on July 21, 1948. They moved from Ashland Wisconsin to Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota where they raised their family. Mel had been employed at Munsingwear in Ashland and Mesabi Electronics in Aurora, MN. She enjoyed gardening, berry picking, watching sports, hiking, dancing and baking the best apple pies. Mel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Rudy. Mel is survived by her children Curtis (Randee) Carlson, Diane (Joe) Fondie, Jeanne (Neil) Kruse, and Rick Carlson. Brother Bob (Carol) White, Sisters Suzie Simpson, Gina (Paul ) Hofmeister, Pauline (Mel) Brown, and Margaret Halverson. Eight grandchildren; David (BJ) Fondie, Jenell (Bill) Olson, Paul Kruse, Aaron (Kelly) Carlson, Kristine (Travis) Belland, Brad Carlson, Brian (Julie) Carlson, and Mike (Molly) Kruse. And 13 Great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Mel’s wonderful caregivers at Carefree Living, especially Jill her great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held in Washburn, Wisconsin, July of 2018.
