Delores “Roxie” Mae Bolen, 83, of Aurora, formerly of Two Harbors died Friday, March 16, 2018 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. Roxie was born on March 26, 1934 to Eben and Signe (Carlson) Anderson in Two Harbors. She grew up and attended school in Two Harbors, graduating from Two Harbors High School, Class of 1952. Roxie was united in marriage to Jim “Tim” Bolen on July 17, 1954. The couple moved to Aurora in 1959 with Jim’s employment at DM & IR. Roxie was a devoted housewife and mother. She had also been employed at Betty’s Coffee Shop, Cherro’s Variety Store and the East End Market. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Roxie was excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was an avid reader. Frogs and birds were Roxie’s favorite animals. Survivors include her husband of 63 years: Jim “Tim” Bolen; three children: Michael Bolen of Minneapolis, Beth Anne (Paul) Sullivan of Tucson, AZ; Lee (Linda) Bolen of Warroad; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother: David (June) Anderson of Two Harbors; three sisters: Barbara McCrary of CA, Margaret Yanukonis of NJ, and Karen Lawton of Duluth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Randy; a grandson, Garrett Bolen; three brothers: Phillip, Lawrence, and Robert “Puggy” Anderson; son-in-law, John Lehman; and her parents. A gathering of family and friends in celebration of Roxie’s life will be held later this summer 2018.
