Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Louise Simonich, 96, of Holland, MI, formerly of Aurora, will be 11:00am Friday, April 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Aurora with Fr. Peter Lambert as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice of charities. Helen died March 27, 2018 at Rest Haven Care Center in Holland, Michigan. She was born October 31, 1921 to Anton and Mary (Kostelic) Grebenc in Aurora, Minnesota. She lived in Aurora for 88 years and then moved to live near her daughter in Chicago, Illinois and Fennville, Michigan. Helen was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and its choir and the Slovenian Women’s Union. Helen loved singing, working crossword puzzles, cooking, baking (especially her well-loved Christmas cookies and desserts) and cleaning her house. She is well remembered for her prolific letter writing. In her later years, her favorite activities were playing Yahtzee, BINGO, eating ice cream and visits from her family. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann (Gary) Krier of Fennville, MI; sons: John (Stephanie) Simonich of Mendocino, CA and Mark (Karen) Simonich of Highland, MI; ten grandchildren: Andrew (Vicki), Adam and Jennifer (Colleen Bennett) Krier and Erica, Daniel, Claire, Bradley, Brian, Andrew and Sara Simonich; two great grandchildren: Lydia and Jack Krier; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albin Jaeger killed in WWII; husband of 51 years, John Simonich; parents, Anton and Mary Grebenc; 12 brothers and sisters.
