A funeral service for Raymond LeRoy Hawley, 84, of West Eveleth, formerly of Hutter, will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 with Pastor Mickey Olson officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Raymond died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his residence in West Eveleth, Minnesota. He was born June 30, 1933 in Elcor, Minnesota to Earl and Margaret (Burns) Hawley. Following his schooling, he worked at Bridgemann’s Creamery in Virginia. On April 21, 1951 he married Gloria Marty in Eveleth. Raymond began working at Lake Mine as a driller and transferred to Eveleth Taconite. There, he worked as a diesel mechanic and retired as a mechanic foreman in June 1995. His favorite pass times were spending time with family and traveling in his motor home. Survivors include his wife of nearly 67years, Gloria of West Eveleth; children: LeRoy (Dolly) Hawley of Eveleth, Shirley Jenko of West Eveleth; Marilyn (Joe) Pershern of Hutter, Eugene (Diane) Hawley of Eveleth and Karen (Brian) King of Ohio; 15 grandchildren: Aaron, Kyle, Scotty, Holly, Francy, Kelly, Risa, Jodi, Lora, Joseph, Anna, Allen, Sheena, Jaimie and Brian; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Beatrice, Howard, Norman, Harold, Margie and Russell.
