A Celebration of Life for Dorothy P. (Frye) Greenly, 81, of Virginia, formerly of rural Eveleth, will be from 1-4pm Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Timbers Edge in rural Eveleth. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Northland Cemetery in Canyon, MN. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be directed to St. Michael’s Health and Rehab Garden Fund in memory of her God-daughter, Tamey Takanen.
Dorothy died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Essentia Health – Virginia, MN.
She was born August 27, 1936 in Shaw, MN to Wilmar and Dorothy (Lantz) Frye. Dorothy married Lloyd Greenly on July 24, 1954 in Duluth.
Dorothy loved working with the public and was a people person. Her most memorable career was working as an aide at the Cotton School. Dorothy loved the holidays, especially dressing up for Halloween. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, hunting and fishing; but she was an avid Packer’s fan.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Steve Danielson) Greenly of Eveleth; sons: Bob (Marlene) of Duluth, Dick (Julie) of Makinen, Jerry (Brenda) of Iron and Steve (Nicole) of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren: Jason (Sara), Krissy (Jon), Melissa (Aric), Zach, Breanna, Kari (Sean), Chad (Becky), Josh (Janessa), Kim, Cassie and Callie; 16 great grandchildren; sisters: Carol Kobe, Betty Snodgrass, Marilyn Bruun and June Sundeen; brothers: Don and Ben Frye; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; sisters: Norma, Wanda and Helen; brothers: Eldon, Doug, Dick, Wilmer Jr., Larry and Eddie.
