Violet Starr

December 23, 1930 — March 11, 2010

Funeral service for Violet "Vi" Louise Starr, 79 of Gilbert will be 1 pm Monday, March 15 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral in Gilbert with Reverend Brenda Tibbetts officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Gilbert Cemetery. Vi died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Virginia Regional Medical Center in Virginia. Vi was born December 23, 1930 to Eric and Cecelia (Carbon) Lundquist in Corie, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Mellen High School in Wisconsin. Vi married Jack Starr in Ashland, WI on June 25, 1949. In 1951 they moved to Gilbert. Vi worked at Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory in Virginia and Gilbert and retired from Leisure Wear in Chisholm. She was a member of the Gilbert VFW Ladies Auxiliary were she was Patriotic Instructor, Chairman for the Buddy Poppy Program and head cook at the Gilbert Spaghetti feed. Vi was also a member of the Sr. Citizens, All Slav Club and the Gilbert Ridge Riders. She enjoyed camping, fishing and reading. Survivors include her son, John (Patty) Starr of Virginia; granddaughter, Ashley Starr of Minneapolis; step-son, David (Terri) Starr of Mellen, Wisconsin; and Ten Brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack, and five siblings.
