Anna Spollar

Memorial Mass for Anna E. Spollar, 88, of Virginia, formerly of Soudan, will be 10:30am Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Frank Perkovich celebrating the mass. Inurnment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Tower, MN. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Mrs. Spollar died Fri. May 7, 2010 in the Virginia Convalescent Care Center. She was born July 13, 1921 in Ely, MN to Peter and Margaret (Kuzma) Jerich. On June 10, 1940 she married Ignatius Spollar. Anna was a homemaker and a resident of Soudan from 1940-1992 when she became a resident of Alice Nettell Tower apartments in Virginia. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tower and its Council of Catholic Women. She attended St. Joseph's parish in Gilbert and was a member of the KSKJ #4. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She especially enjoyed visiting with family, fishing on Lake Vermilion and taking walks on the Murray Road near Soudan. Survivors include her children: Frank (Genny) Spollar of Gilbert and Diane (Michael) Hanzal of N. St. Paul; grandchildren: Carine (Paul) Bajda, Robin (Nathan) Kazek and Gayle (Andy) Bajda; five great grandchildren: Kendall, Sophia, Kolton, Gavin and Isabel; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ignatius; brothers: Peter, John, August and Michael; sisters: Pauline, Mary and Margaret.
