A gathering of family and friends for Lorraine Akervik, 73, of Biwabik, formerly of Hoyt Lakes will be held Tue. Aug. 10 from 12noon-2 p.m. in Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Inurnment will be in Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. She was born April 15, 1937, to Arvo and Margaret (Fechner) Johnson, in Duluth, Minn. She married Charles Akervik and later moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1968. She was a member of the Hoyt Lakes Bowling League and a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed having coffee time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children; Debra (John) Mackey Halstead of St. Paul, Val (Mike) Baudhuin of Aurora, Kim (Steve) Popoe of Superior, Scott Akervik of St. Paul, Kevin (Allison) Akervik of Duluth, Tobin Akervik of Duluth, Jay Akervik of Superior; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Gerald Johnson of Eveleth and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, and son, Mitchell Mackey.
