A memorial service for Eino Samuel Toivonen, 93, of Markham, will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the White Community Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility in Aurora. Pat Gillespie will be officiating. A private burial service will be held at the Markham Cemetery. He died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the White Community Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility in Aurora. Eino was born on December 13, 1916 to Samuel and Loviisa (Manneroos) Toivonen in Markham, Minnesota. He was the fourth of five children born to the Finnish immigrants and lived his entire life in Markham on the original Toivonen homestead. Eino was united in marriage to Viola Jurenic. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He was employed by U.S. Steel and worked as a systems repairman until his retirement. Eino was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and taking walks in the woods. He is survived by his niece, Nancy Hill (John Birchem) of Markham; nephew, Matt (Janice) Laine of Palo; Step-daughter, Diana (Tom) Maki of Hibbing; and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; sister, Alma; brothers, Oiva, Arvo & Leo. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
