Grave side service for Lawrence Grebenc, 82, of Aurora, will be 10:30am Saturday Sept. 18, 2010 in Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Memorials may be directed to St. Raphael's Health and Rehab Center. Lawrence died Sat. Sept. 11, 2010 in St. Raphael's Health and Rehab Center in Eveleth. He was born June 28, 1928 in Aurora, MN to Anton and Mary Grebenc. Lawrence was a graduate of Aurora High School and later served in the US Army stationed in Japan. In August of 1971 he married Janice Zuponcic. Lawrence worked for Erie Mining Company and retired from there as a shovel operator with 40 years of service. Lawrence previously served on the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes School Board. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed football, hunting, fishing and a good game of cribbage. Survivors include his sisters: Helen Simonich of Palos Park, Illinois and Margaret (Tony) Ahlin of Eveleth, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Janice, step-daughter: Dawn Farrell, siblings: Tony, Frank, Joe, Ann Slavik, Mae Engstrom, Bill, Harriet Grebenc, Molly Grebenc, Gail Hochevar and one sibling in infancy.
