Funeral service for Bernice Cecilia Kiefat, 88, of Hoyt Lakes will be 1 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Bernice died Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Carefree Assisted Living Facility in Aurora after a twelve year battle with Alzheimers. God said, “That’s enough, come with Me”. Bernice was born on December 28, 1929 to William and Rose Mary (Gabel) Hassa in Bismarck, ND. Bernice was united in marriage to Raymond Kiefat in 1954 in Minneapolis. Bernice had been employed by the Arrow Shirt Factory in Virginia and Betty’s Coffee Shop in Aurora. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Hoyt Lakes where she taught Sunday School. Bernice volunteered as a Cub Scout and Brownie Scout Leader. She also loved her sewing machine. She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Raymond; a daughter, Joyce (John) Miklausich; three sons: Kenneth (Donna) Kiefat, Craig (Donna) Kiefat, David (Debra) Kiefat; five grandchildren: Cody Kiefat, Rieta Vanderzen, Eric Miklausich, Andrea Kiefat, and Heather Glass; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron Kiefat; brothers: Frank, Bill, Don, Clem, and Chuck; sisters: Rose Mary and Delores; and her parents.
