Visitation and gathering of family and friends for Carlton Joseph Uselman, 85, of Hoyt Lakes, will be from 1:00-3:00pm Friday August 3, 2018 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Military honors provided by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard will immediately follow. Burial will be at a later date in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Carlton passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Essentia Health – Virginia, Minnesota. He was born April 27, 1933 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin to Pasilous and Grace (Briskie) Uselman. Following his schooling, he entered the National Guard and was drafted to the US Army at age 19. He served in Korea. On February 4, 1954 he married June Baumgart in Medford, MN. In 1957 they moved to Hoyt Lakes and worked for Erie Mining Company. He retired from LTV Steel in 1995 as a service truck driver with 38 years of service. He was self employed in furniture upholstery for many years. Carlton was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardner and enjoyed wood carving. He was a member of the Hoyt Lakes VFW Post and the Aurora American Legion Post. He was a former member of the Aurora Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, June; children: Sandy (Charlie) Jones of Duluth, Marjorie (Chip) Tibodeau of Duluth and Jim Uselman of Hoyt Lakes; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings: John (Adeline) Uselman, Patricia Uselman and Jan Barta; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Annette (Wally) Walczak; siblings: Marion (Leon), Rusty and one in infancy; brother-in-law, Al Barta
