Carol Ann Kobe

Carol Ann Kobe peacefully passed away on October 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on December 19, 1941, in Canyon, MN. to Dorothy and Wilmer Frye, the 14^th of 16 children. She graduated from Cotton High School in 1959.  Carol was a longtime resident of the Iron Range having worked 40+ years as a bartender at several establishments.  She was well-loved by family, friends, and patrons alike.  In her younger years she took part in volleyball and bowling leagues, and organized and participated in community events. Carol was a born caretaker who loved cooking and feeding her family and friends.

In her final days, Carol was at peace and looked forward to being reunited with her daughter, Tamey Takanen; son, Craig Krize; her beloved dog Jax; her parents and 11 siblings who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Gina (Dave) Wells and their children; Skylar, Beau and Hannah; son-in-law Shawn (Karen) Takanen; grandchildren Craig Krize (great-granddaughters Hailey and Terriana), Douglas VonBrethorst and Austin (Madisen) Briesemeister (great-grandson, Huxley); bonus granddaughter, Jennifer (Bryan) Arvola (great-grandchildren Alex, Samuel, Evan and Aila); brothers Donald and Benjamin Frye; sisters Marilyn Bruun and Betty Snodgrass; sister-in-law Charlene Frye; and a host of very special nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Essentia Health Virginia Emergency Room, ICU and Hospice care teams for the exceptional care provided to Carol during her stay. Her daughter Gina would like to express an extra special thank you to Carol’s niece, Sandy Greenly for always being there and bringing Carol’s great-grand nieces Morgan and Gracie and great-grand nephew Lucas to visit her and take her on lunch outings!

A celebration of Life and luncheon will be held at the Timber’s Edge Bar & Grill on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. A private family inurnment will take place at the Northland Cemetery in Canyon, MN.
