Carol Stephens

April 7, 1942 — January 9, 2019

A gathering of family and friends of Carol Jean Stephens, 76, of Aurora will be 12-2 pm Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with a reception immediately following at the American Legion in Aurora. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Columbarium at a later date. Carol died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born April 7, 1942 in Eveleth, Minnesota to Harry “Bud” and Elaine (Prout) Scholar. Carol attended school in McKinley and graduated from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School in 1960.  On October 7, 1977 she married Robert Stephens. Carol worked as a bartender at the Aurora Moose Lodge and the old Copper Nickel in Aurora. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and going to Belly Acres shack.  She especially adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Robert; children: Terry Tisdell of Plymouth, Tracy Canalia of Aurora and Penny Stephens of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Ashley, Alyssa, and Travis Tisdell, Michael and Casey Woods, Dylan Canalia and Madisen and Brody Koivisto; great grandchildren: Hunter and Bentley Woods; brother: Earl “Butch” Scholar; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Elaine; son, Timmy Tisdell; grandsons: Aaron Canalia and Todd Tisdell.
