Dale Brian Coan

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at the American Legion in Aurora.  Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Dale Brian Coan, 62, of Aurora died Thursday, November 2, 2023 at his home. 

He was born on June 15, 1961 to Raymond and Ann (Ronkainen) Coan in Virginia.  Dale graduated from the Babbitt High School, Class of 1979.  He attended Hibbing Vocational School where he studied diesel mechanics.  He worked in Goodridge, MN for a few years before moving back to the Iron Range.  He was employed by the Carpenter’s Union until his retirement.  He was united in marriage to Cathy Gross on June 15, 1999.  Dale was a talented carpenter and mechanic.  He enjoyed restoring old cars, especially his ’55 Chevy.  Dale enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycling.   He and Cathy cherished taking many motorcycle trips around the US and Canada together.

Survivors include wife, Cathy; son, Joe (Maija) Bolen; daughter, Amy (Amanda) Bolen-Morris; grandchildren: Mason, Axton, Morgan, Tyson, Charly, Colton and Kensley Bolen; sister, Arlene (Virgil) Hall; brothers: Dean (Sheree), Richard, Gary (Angie) and Warren (Erica) Coan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
