Funeral service for Darlene M. Hubbard, 96, of Mt. Iron, formerly of Eveleth, will be 11:00am – Friday August 2, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Virginia, with Pastor Bradley Felix officiating. (Due to construction, please enter the church on 7th Ave.) Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
Darlene died Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Mt. Iron, MN.
She was born May 16, 1928 in Barron County, Wisconsin to Leonard and Mabel (Hoff) Anderson. She was a graduate of Barron High School and later married Lawrence Hubbard on September 19, 1946 in Arland, Wisconsin.
The couple moved to Duluth where Darlene owned and operated Hub’s Café in Gary New Duluth. In 1972 the couple moved to Sparta where she was a homemaker and waitressed at various restaurants on the Iron Range.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, including its quilting group, choir and women’s guild. She was an avid gardener and canned vegetables. Darlene led a life of service to her family, friends and community.
Survivors include her children: Linda (Tom) Heski of Cannon Falls, Terry (Debby) Hubbard of Waterford, WI, Debby (Bill) McCormick of Duluth, Peggy (Ray) Makkyla of Embarrass, Jim (Sheryl) Hubbard of Bemidji, Cindy (Vern) Elg of Superior, Wyoming and Robert Hubbard of Eveleth; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; son-in-law, John Fechner of CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mabel Anderson; husband, Lawrence; daughter, Vicky Fechner; brother, Gordon “Butts” Anderson; sister, Marge Schmidt.
