A gathering of family and friends of Deborah “Deb” Jean Kramar, 50, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Family and friends are invited to the Hoyt Lakes VFW immediately following the visitation.

Deb died Friday, February 14, 2025 at Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. 

She was born August 14, 1974 to John and Gayle (Archambo) Karkinen in Virginia, Minnesota. Deb was a graduate of Mesabi East High School. She worked at LTV Mining for a short time and later attended St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota – Duluth. She earned her Masters in Social Work and worked for St. Louis County as a social worker for 23 years.  On August 11, 2012 Deb married James Kramar at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minnesota. Deb served as a Hoyt Lakes City Councilor, and was engaged and active in the betterment of the local community. She enjoyed summers at the Hoyt Lakes Campground with friends, family and her dogs. 

Survivors include her husband, James of Hoyt Lakes; father, John Karkinen of Hoyt Lakes; brother, James (Betsy) Karkinen of Hoyt Lakes; nephew, Gus; niece, Samantha; and her canine companions, Sitka and Kenai.

 She is preceded in death by her mother, Gayle.
