Dolores Marilyn Peterson

Dolores “Dee” M. Peterson, 94, of Gilbert died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at her home. 

She was born on November 11, 1928 to Frank and Dorothy (Burch) Ruckmar in South St. Paul.  After graduating from high school, she met her future husband, Don Peterson.  When Don decided the Twin Cities was too crowded for his outdoor taste, he took a job at Erie Mining Co. and Dee reluctantly followed.  Soon after they were married in 1954.  As it turned out, Dee was more of a small town girl than she had imagined.  Over the years, she made numerous friends working at the shirt factory and bartending or waitressing at Nick’s, Bernie’s and at the Burnt Onion at Giants Ridge.  She also made lifelong friends with members of the Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club.  To this day, there are many hilarious stories floating around amongst them.   She will be missed for her laugh, her friendship, and her all around good nature.

Survivors include her children (whom she made certain everyone knew spoiled her): Linda Peterson and Don (Terri) Peterson, both of Gilbert and Penny (Joe) Calger of Eveleth; Grandchildren: Stacey (Gregg) Helland, Christy (Casey) Lindgren and great-granddaughter: Lydia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; two siblings: Darlene Krey and Donald Ruckmar; and her parents.

Dolores’ family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Home Care & Hospice Team and Linda M. for the wonderful care they provided to their mother.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. November 9, 2023 at the Community United Methodist Church in Gilbert with Pastor Marylou Sixberry officiating.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery.   Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.  Memorials to the Community United Methodist Church of Gilbert or Fairview Hospice are preferred in lieu of flowers.
