A gathering of family and friends of Donald Anton Enquist, 81, of Aurora, will be Saturday April 6, 2019 from 2-4pm at the Aurora American Legion Post in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
Donald died Tuesday April 2, 2019 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, MN.
He was born February 16, 1938 in Biwabik, MN to Floyd and Katherine (Rodosovich) Enquist. He attended school in Biwabik and later enlisted in the National Guard from 1956-1958. He transferred to the US Army from 1958-1966 serving during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service he worked for the US Forestry in Aurora and Ely. He retired from there in November 1993. On February 4, 1986 he married Verna in Virginia, MN.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada. He especially enjoyed gardening and attending craft shows with his wife, Verna.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Northern Pines in Aurora for the excellent care given to Don the past 14 months.
Survivors include his wife, Verna; step-children: Carmen (Arlo) Flannery, Scott (Rita Licari) Christensen, Jamie (Dawn) Christensen, Robin (Jay) Henningsen and Missy (Scott) Arn; several grandchildren including his caregivers: Christine, Randi and Sara; many great grandchildren; brother, Ed Enquist and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Katherine; sister, Dorothy; brother, Bernard and a grandson, Scotty Christensen.
