Gene Curtiss Davis, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Carefree Living in Aurora, Minn.

He was born on May 30, 1930, to Anthony and Stella Davis in Crystal Falls, Mich. He was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School in 1948. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving 4 years in the Korean War. During his service time, he played basketball with the Air Force. Gene was united in marriage to Norma Palmer on June 16, 1951, in Crystal Falls. Gene started working in the lab for Erie Mining Co. in 1957. He worked there until his retirement in 1991.

Gene loved spending time outdoors, tending to his vegetable gardens and rose bushes. He also loved woodworking, making many treasures for his family. During football season, Gene would spend his Sundays watching his beloved Packers. Gene was an active member of the Hoyt Lakes VFW his entire life. Gene took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren to play poker. He always enjoyed spending time with his family as they were all special to him. Gene always greeted everyone with his infectious smile along with his quick wit and humor.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Norma; sister, Nancy (Raymond) Farrell; son, Mike Davis of Texas; daughters, Sue (Jim) Lantz of Makinen and Laura Truman of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Justin (Shay) Davis, Kaitlyn Davis, Melissa Davis, Jennifer Kauppi, Jeremy (Jill) Kauppi, Stephanie (Greg) Larson, Brooke (Sol) Beyer, Kevin (Cheryl) Lantz, Kyle (Anita) Lantz, BriAnna (Eric) Cromley; and a close family friend, Cathy Bartholomew; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Stella; brother, Harley; sister-in-law, Fran; daughter, Patti; son-in-law, Don; grandson, Joe.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
