Evelyn Marion Chapman

Evelyn Marion Chapman, 91, of Hoyt Lakes died Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora. 

She was born on November 21, 1932 to Matthew and Ailie (Tusa) Hakala in Eveleth. She grew up and attended Eveleth High School, Class of 1950. She furthered her education at the Eveleth Junior College. Evelyn was united in marriage to Donald Chapman in 1953. The couple moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1957, where they remained lifelong residents. Evelyn was proud to call Hoyt Lakes home and was very active in the community. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, sewing, baking, watching hockey and was an avid MN Twins fan. Later in life she volunteered for BANDAGES. 

Survivors include her two children: Donna Sivanich of Spring Lake Park and Brian (Christine Cromley) Chapman of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Andrew (Andrea) Sivanich of Springfield, VA, Alyssa (Justin) Huelman of Redwood City, CA , Arianna (Luke Lorey) Sivanich of Bella Vista, AR and Samuel Chapman of Farmington; Christine’s daughters: Sami, Alex, Andrea, and Danyelle; great-grandchildren: Chasya, Moriah, Neorah, Rhys and a baby girl on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; daughter, Jill Marie; siblings: Lorraine and Leslie; and her parents.

A private family service will be held. Interment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora.
