Frank Joseph Spollar, 81, of Gilbert, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side, at St Lukes Hospital, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
Frank was born May 10, 1942, to Shorty and Anna Spollar, in Soudan, MN, where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from Bemidji State University, he accepted a teaching position at Nelle Shean Elementary School, retiring in 1999 after 35 years. Frank was married in 1970 to the love of his life Genny and were married for 53 years.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing; especially enjoying his time spent at the hunting shack off the Murray Road with the people closest to him. He was active in the Eveleth Elks Club, serving many of the chairs, including as past Exalted Ruler. Frank served over 20 years on the Gilbert Volunteer Fire Department. He will be remembered for his humor and tall tales; he will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Angie Walli; brother-in-law, John; special uncle, Sulo; and his loving companion, Weezer.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Genny; children, Carine (Paul) Bajda, Gayle (Justin) Forsman; grandchildren, Kendall, Kolton, Gavin Bajda, and Abigail and Ailie Forsman; sister, Diane (Mike) Hanzal; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Spollar; many special nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of 2 west at St Luke’s for their final care of Frank.
Funeral Mass will be 10AM, Saturday, October 28, 2023, with visitation one-hour prior at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 515 Summit St N, Gilbert, MN 55741.
