Funeral Mass for Helen Marian Jakel, 96, of Gilbert, will be 10:30am Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Michael Garry as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Helen died Friday, April 27, 2018 at Edgewood Vista in Virginia, MN. She was born November 6, 1921 in Kitzville, MN to Joseph and Helen (Moren) Sustersich. Helen was a 1941 graduate of Eveleth High School and later married Anton Jakel on October 4, 1941 in Eveleth. She worked for the Cluett Peabody Shirt Factory, was a homemaker and a talented seamstress who enjoyed making and tailoring clothing for others. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish and the Gilbert VFW Auxiliary. In her earlier years she was an avid gardener, curler and Girl Scout Leader. Survivors include her children: Thomas Jakel of Wolf, Judith Slink of Hastings and Annette (John) Dolenc of Eagan; six grandsons: Tony Jakel, Michael Jakel, David Jakel, Craig Dolenc, Mark Dolenc and Brian Dolenc; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Tony.
