Irene Florence Lauseng

Funeral service for Irene Florence Lauseng, 95, of Hoyt Lakes will be 10 am Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Jeffrey Jones officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Monday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Irene died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at her home, with her loving dog, Roxy, and her family by her side. She was born on August 25, 1923 to Arthur and Alice (Richardt) Borchart in Ortley, SD. She grew up and attended school in Ortley.  On November 3, 1941 Irene was united in marriage to Donald Lauseng.  The couple moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1963 as Donald was hired by Erie Mining.  Irene worked at the Eveleth Shirt Factory for a short time until returning to her favorite job, being a mother and homemaker.  She was known as “Mom” to many of the neighborhood children.   Irene enjoyed gardening, yardwork, camping, and fishing.  Irene was a lifelong member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Hoyt Lakes. She was also a member of Hoyt Lakes Senior Bowling League for over twenty years.  Irene took the greatest pleasure in being a grandmother and great-grandmother as well as her beloved dogs throughout her life, most recently, Roxy. Survivors include her son: Donald (Nancy) Lauseng of Isle of Palms, SC; daughter: Dixie (John) Harder of Hoyt Lakes; six grandchildren: Dale Lauseng, Jr., Sara Kulas, Shelley Harder, Sheila (Chip) Holter, Corissa (Mark) Lindell, and Chad (Shelly) Lauseng; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; and her beloved dog, Roxy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sons: Dale and Rickie; a brother, Henry; her parents: Arthur and Alice (Richardt) Borchart; step parents: Leona and Richard Schocker; and step brother and sister: Jim and Arlene.
