John "Jocko Albright

June 3, 1948 — September 26, 2018

Funeral service for John “Jocko” Albright, 70, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 11am Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Rev. Jerry Kosanovich officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral home and will also continue for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.  Interment will be at a later date.   Jocko died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, MN.   John was born June 3, 1948 in Superior, WI to Louis and Frances (Berg) Albright. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and later married Megan Gary in 1984.   Jocko began working at Phillips 66 in Hoyt Lakes which he later owned and operated. Following the sale of the service station, he worked for NRI at the Cina School in Aurora.  He later worked security for Mesabi Nugget and currently was the auditor for the Hoyt Lakes area charitable gambling.   He has a special interest in the Hoyt Lakes VFW, where he was a member of the Auxiliary. He enjoyed playing poker, was an avid league bowler and enjoyed playing and sponsoring softball in his younger years.   Survivors include his step-child, Jess Gary of Duluth; siblings: Joan (Robert) Magnuson of Hoyt Lakes, Carol Houdek of Aurora and Jerry (Gene) Albright of Biwabik; numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.   He is preceded in death by his parents.
