Funeral Mass for John Paul Barry, 81, of Aurora, will be 11am Friday, October 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Hope Parish (Holy Rosary) in Aurora with Fr. Peter Lambert as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at church. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. John died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Raphael’s Health and Rehab in Eveleth, MN. John was born April 17, 1937 in Sparta, Wisconsin to John and Irene (Resch) Barry. Following his schooling, he worked in the oil fields in Texas. Later, he married Viola Yahrmatter. John worked most of his life for Inter City Gas and retired from Northern Minnesota Utilities as a utility repairman. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed trips to the Boundary Waters, picking berries, hunting and fishing. Tending to his garden was also a passion of his. Survivors include his sons: Kevin of Roseau, Keith (Rosemary) of Roseau and John (Michelle) Barry of Duluth; grandchildren: Amasta, Hannah, Holly, Billy, TJ (Breanna); great grandson, Nicholas; sisters: Bobbie Gronemus of Whitehall, WI and Maureen Gamedinger of Tomah, WI; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene and wife, Viola.
