Funeral service for Joni H. Stutzman, 66, of Gilbert will be 2 pm Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Biwabik Covenant Church with Pastor Clyde Harvey officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Biwabik Township Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Joni went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Essentia Health Miller-Dwan in Duluth. He was born on September 25, 1952 to Henry and Lydia (Borntrager) Stutzman in LaGrange, IN. He grew up and attended school in the Amish Community of LaGrange, IN. Following his schooling, Joni learned the meat processing trade and then store management. Joni was united in marriage to Sharon Boggs on August 6, 1977 in LaGrange, IN. He fulfilled his life dream of store ownership in 1985 when he purchased the Hoyt Lakes IGA. Joni believed he lived his faith by serving his community. He was a member of the Hoyt Lakes, Laurentian and Aurora Chambers of Commerce, East Range Lions Club, MN Grocer Assoc., Celebrate Aurora Committee, Ducks Unlimited, and Biwabik Covenant Church. He was involved in and supported numerous other public and political organizations. Joni enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 41 years: Sharon; children: Amber (Adam) Heikkila, Rebekah (Robert) Ronning, Brandon Stutzman and Ashley Stutzman; grandchildren: Kevin Heikkila, and Hannah, Hailey, Riley and Reid Ronning; siblings: Ray (Kathy) and Dan Stutzman, Ruby (Ora) Miller, and Wilma (Eli) Mullett; mother-in-law, Patricia Miller; sister-in-law, Sheila (Randy) Adkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Stutzman; sisters-in-law: Patricia and Marlene Stutzman and Shelly Boggs; brother-in-law, Samuel Schlabach; nephews: Neal Mullett and Michael Adkins; his in-laws: Burdette and Janet Boggs; and his parents.
