A memorial service for Joshua David Banks, 33, of Cripple Creek, CO, formerly of Biwabik will be held at 3 pm Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Joshua died Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Cripple Creek, CO. He was born on August 17, 1985 to Steven and Elizabeth (Dewhurst) Banks in Virginia. Josh graduated from Mesabi East High School, Class of 2004. He continued his education earning a degree in Autobody Repair from Northland Community College in 2006. Josh went on to work at various automotive repair shops, and then went on to work at his favorite job, IDEA Drilling, in Virginia. On April 24, 2010 Josh married the love of his life, Molly McGovern on a destination wedding in Negril, Jamaica. The couple lived in Hoyt Lakes until moving out west to Colorado due to Josh’s rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis. Josh worked at UTC Aerospace while living in Colorado. Josh was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. One could find him sitting in his deer stand at the shack with his family or taking joyrides on his motorcycle or snowmobile. Josh enjoyed spending time with his family and held a special place in his heart for all of his nieces and nephews. Josh had a passion for the art of airbrushing and custom painting. In his free time, Josh liked to showcase his creativity and design skills by making things for his family and friends. Josh took great pride in his handy work around his home. Survivors include the love of his life, Molly McGovern; his mother, Beth (Joe Leoni) Dewhurst; father, Steven (Joni) Banks; favorite sister and brother: Jaime and Jered (Carrie) Banks; stepbrothers: Blake and Ben Newton and their children; nieces: Hailey, Brianna, Chloe, Carlie, and Hazel; nephews: James and Huxley; grandmothers: Helen Dewhurst and Dixie Banks; best friends: Matt McGovern and Jason Henderson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friends: Dick and Pam Backstrom. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: David Dewhurst and Bufard Banks; great-grandmothers: Lydia Kauppi and Marjorie Dewhurst; and his special companion, Jager.
