Karen J. Wallace

 Karen Joy Wallace, age 82, passed in her sleep on her birthday, November 05, 2024, at the Buffalo Glenn. 

Karen was born on November 5th, 1942, to Lewis and Lucille Boorom, in Tacoma, Washington. Karen grew up in Detroit Lakes, Mn.

Karen married the love of her life, Richard Wallace, on June 13th, 1959, at the Holy Rosary Church, in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Richard and Karen then moved to Hoyt Lakes where Richard would work at Erie Mining Co. (later LTV Steel), until his retirement. 

 Karen had many pastimes including knitting, crocheting, quilting, doll houses, Beenie Babies, and her favorite was cats. She collected just about any type of cat figurine, pictures, stoneware, puzzles, and more.

She enjoyed watching movies of all kinds and various card games. She was a member of the Moose Club, and TOPS. 

She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

She was loved by everyone and you could not find a more caring human being. Karen was always willing to help and always brought a smile to everyone. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and person. 

She is survived by her sister Barbara Lavaque, sister-in-law’s Donna Bjerke, Cecelia Leverson, Sylvia (Donald)Dufner, sons Michael (Teresa), Mark (Lisa), daughter Michelle (Steve), 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren (2more on the way!), numerous nephews and nieces. 

She was preceded in death by husband Richard, sisters Phylis and Fran, sister-in-law Margie, and numerous brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am Friday, November 22, 2024 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora, MN. With Deacon Mark Skala officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior. Burial service will follow at the Hoyt Lakes Cemetery. 

After the burial, there will be a gathering for a celebration of life at the Hoyt Lakes VFW for a luncheon, to share stories about Karen and visit with family and friends.
