Memorial Mass for Kathleen A. “Kaye” Corbett, 87, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Thursday October 19, 2023 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Kristoffer McKusky as celebrant.  Friends may gather one hour prior to the mass at church.  Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.  Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.

Kathleen died Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, Minnesota.

She was born March 11, 1936 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to James and Ellen (Karl) Burke.  Kaye was a 1954 graduate of Hibbing High School and later married Albert E. Wippler.  They made their home in Hoyt Lakes where they began raising their four children.  During that time, Kaye provided daycare for several families in Hoyt Lakes.

In 1987 Albert died.  Kaye worked as a para professional for 18 years at Mesabi East Schools.  There, she met Wendell Corbett.  They married on August 3, 1990 in Hoyt Lakes.  She and Wendell enjoyed living at Lake Vermilion, and wintering in Mesa, Arizona for many winters.  While in Arizona they made lasting friendships and Kaye enjoyed teaching crafting with gourds.  She also enjoyed baking cakes, was an avid BINGO player and looked forward to card club with the “girls”.  Kaye was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include her husband, Wendell; children: Julie Wippler, Mark (Lisa) Wippler and Marty (Melissa) Wippler; step-children: Brad (Rhonda) Corbett, Kendell Corbett, Brent Corbett and Kevin Corbett; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, James Burke; sister, Mary Ellen (Mike) Gustafson; step son-in-law, Russell Garvey

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ellen; first husband, Albert; son, Karl; brother, Patrick Burke and a step-daughter, Kary Corbett Garvey.
