Kathleen L Lund

With great sadness in our hearts, we, the family of Kathleen L. Lund (Hanson), our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, must announce that she passed away at Essentia Health - Northern Pines on September 3rd, 2018, in Aurora, MN.    Kathleen (Katy) was born to Einar Hanson, Sr. and Luella Hanson on January 18th, 1935, and was raised in the Lake Nichols area, Canyon, MN.  She was the baby sister of both Einer, Jr. and Burton.  She always adored them and the feelings were mutual.   She met her husband, Gunnar W. Lund, while attending Cotton High School, in MN, and they later married on his 21st birthday, December 22, 1956, in San Antonio, TX. They were lucky to live and love together for 56 wonderful years prior to his passing in 2013. She also graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a bachelor's degree in education and enjoyed teaching in MN for several years, prior to relocating to Tucson, AZ in 1972. She enjoyed substitute teaching in later years, as well.    Their journey lead them to Arizona, Texas, Kansas and, then, back home to Minnesota in 1986, where they settled in Hoyt Lakes. They remained so very close to dear family and friends in Minnesota and continued to make "forever" friends whereever they resided. As family, we are grateful that these folks will continue to be a part of our lives. They will have a positive, everlasting impact on all of us.   Without a doubt, she loved her son, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and husband.  She also loved mashed potatoes, collecting fun dishes, playing cards, chatting with friends, camping/boating/fishing, garage sales, beaches, birds, you, and much more.  We loved her so much and already miss her. Our lives are forever changed now.   Kathleen is survived by her children, Michael (Debbie) Lund, Sugarloaf, CA; LuAnn (Michael) Holmes, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Shane (Desiree) Lund, Temecula, CA; Melissa (Cade) McCutchen, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Christina (Drew) DeSouza, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Heather (Brandt) Hobbs, Wrightwood, CA; Jason (Brittny) Holmes, Mesa, AZ; Brian (Kylie, fiance), Lincoln, CA; 13 great-grandchildren (soon to be 14); sisters-in-law, Carol (Jerry) Nyland, Biwabik, MN; Ellen Prinkkila, Hoyt Lakes; El Freda Anderson, Canyon, MN; brother-in-law Kenneth Lund, Hoyt Lakes, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Gunnar W. Lund; parents, Einar and Luella Hanson; and brothers Einar, Jr. and Burton Hanson.   We welcome you to celebrate her life with us at the Chalet at Giants Ridge, 6329 Wynne Creek Dr., Biwabik, MN 55732, on Thursday, September 13th, at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served.
