Luann Marie, passed away unexpectedly at age 64 on September 19th at her home in Eagan, MN. She was a beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, and cousin, and was a dear friend to many. Luann grew up in Gilbert, MN and was very proud of her Iron Range and Slovenian heritage. She graduated from Gilbert High School, and completed her undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Library Science at St. Scholastica and St. Catherine University, respectively. Luann spent many years working for the Minnesota Historical Society and the Dakota County Library system; several of those years were at the Heritage Library in Lakeville, where she had many treasured friends. She continually sought to provide top-level service to her library patrons, and took special pride in delivering books to the elderly and arranging programs that would be of interest to them. Luann had a very strong Christian faith, and she was very active in her church, St. Thomas Becket in Eagan, where she had many dear friends.
Luann was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents (Leonard "Lindy" and Genevieve Phillipich), and aunts and uncles that she dearly loved: Jack and Milly Zollar of Duluth, Mary Lou Paris of Gilbert, and Jack Potocnik of Gilbert. She is survived by her brothers Tom (Kathy Jakel) Phillipich of Chisholm, and Bob (Kathy Hansen) Phillipich of Apple Valley; her nephews, Adam (Stacy) Phillipich of Bloomington, David Phillipich of Apple Valley, John (Jessica) Phillipich of Prior Lake, and Jeff (Nicole) Phillipich of Duluth; and her niece, Amy (Ryan Rodenwald) Phillipich of Culver, MN. Luann also is survived by her great-nieces and nephews, whom she adored: Genevieve, Emilia, Madeline, James, Sarah, Joseph, Ethan, Ainsley and Reya, as well as many wonderful cousins who played an important role in her life. Special thanks also goes to Luann's many incredible and devoted friends, especially Linda Walker, Jeanne Strauchon and Kathy Wierimaa for their love and support.
