Memorial service for Marlene Beverly Ruotsalainen, 85, of Hoyt Lakes will be 10 am Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Brian Birk officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery. Marlene died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Villa Vista Cardinal Court Assisting Living in Cromwell. She was born on September 23, 1933 to Jack and Dora (Johnson) Huhta in Cloquet, MN. She graduated from the Cromwell High School. On November 1, 1952 Marlene was united in marriage to Henry Ruotsalainen in Esko. The couple made their home in Kettle River until relocating to Hoyt Lakes when Henry went to work at Erie Mining. Marlene worked for several years as a nurse’s aide at the White Community Hospital. She took the greatest pride in her home and her family. Marlene was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, and the “Fearless Finns” Bowling Team. She enjoyed playing SMEAR with the neighbors attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Survivors include her children: Henry (Lynn) Ruotsalainen of Hoyt Lakes, Diane Fondie of Hoyt Lakes, Steven (Lisa) Ruotsalainen of Kodiak, AK, and Mark (Debbie) Ruotsalainen of Big Lake; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jack and Jim (Janie) Huhta both of Cromwell; a sister: Karen (Jorge) Marinoni of FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; an infant daughter, Susan Kay; brother, Richard Huhta; son-in-law, Michael Fondie; and her parents.
