Memorial service for Marlene Dee Sale, 87, of Aurora, will be 10:30am Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastor Barbara Hegfors officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. A luncheon will follow at the Aurora American Legion.
Marlene died Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, Minnesota.
She was born April 27, 1936 in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Carl and Jeannette (Tubbs) Peterson. Marlene was raised in Park Rapids on the family farm and later moved to Babbitt. She was a 1953 graduate of Ely High School.
Marlene worked for Partridge Lakes Development and Erie Mining Company as a bookkeeper. On February 1, 1958 she married James D. Sale. The couple made their home in Aurora where they raised their four girls. Marlene worked many years as a loan officer at the State Bank of Aurora, the City of Aurora and the CO-OP Credit Union.
She was active in the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, enjoyed her Bridge and Dance clubs, playing cards and was an avid reader. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, casino trips and especially time spent with her family. Her most recent enjoyment was playing the horse racing game with her family.
Survivors include her daughters: Jeanene Carpenter of Aurora, Susan Katherine (Jack) Emmeck of Houlton, WI, Cathleen (Steven) Peterson of Gilbert and Joanne Marie (Darrell) Ulrich of Indus; grandchildren: Rachel (Ryan) Webster, Amie (Tom Forward) Valesano, Kellie (Al) Wittstock, John (Korrin) Emmeck, Zach (Petra) Peterson, Wyatt Ulrich, Walker Ulrich and Hattie Ulrich; numerous great grandchildren; twin brother, Charles (Alex) Peterson of California; sister, Bonnie Buschman of Babbitt and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jeannette; husband, James; sister, Carol Bohannon.
Marlene’s family would like to thank the Essentia Health Hospice Care Team for all of their help and support.
