Melinda June Boerger, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at her son David’s home in Miami, Florida.
She was born on April 24, 1940, to Ida Marie Johnson and Emmett O’Neal Johnson. She graduated from Autauga County High School in Prattville, Alabama in 1958, and then attended Massey-Draughon Business College in Montgomery, Alabama. While living in Montgomery, she met the love of her life, Allan Jerome Boerger, who was in the Air Force and stationed at Maxwell AFB. They married on March 3, 1961 and were married for 51 years before Allan’s passing in 2012.
Melinda was a full-time parent and homemaker, raising her four children as she and her husband traveled to many different duty stations. During this time, June was a child-care provider, worked retail and as a teachers aid.
Melinda was an avid reader and book collector. She loved stories; whether through books, films of all kinds, or games. She had a curious mind and a joyful heart. In addition, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are: her children, James Boerger [Sandstone, MN], Kamala (Richard) Warren, [Eufaula, AL], David (Gabriela) Boerger [Miami, FL]; son-in-Law, Frank Judnick [Virginia, MN]; grandchildren, Frankie (Anna) Judnick, Cory Judnick, Matthew Hurt, Justin Boerger, Brookes Warren, Bronze (Anna) Warren, Cash (Amber) Warren, Daniel Boerger, Abigail (Will) Cooper and Isabela Boerger; great grandchildren, Violet Judnick, Luna Judnick, Kinzley Boerger, Jaylee Boerger, Kaylie Warren; two sisters and a brother, Sherry (Sam) Snead, Dorothy Ann Johnson, Van (Bette) Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family; Lois and Dwayne Ingebretson, Elsie and Benny Leffel, Patricia Field, Bobby Boerger, Leroy and Betty Boerger and friends; honorary granddaughters, Rachel and Brooke Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Allan Boerger, her daughter: Lori Judnick, sisters: Bobbie Faye Johnson and Penny Marie Johnson, grandson: Mitchell Boerger, and great-grandson: Oliver Judnick and great-grand daughter: Madeline Hurt Campos.
Melinda had a loving, giving, kind heart and will be dearly missed.
Funeral service 11am Monday, April 28, 2025 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora. Deacon Mark Skala will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
