Missy Carlson

Melissa Ann Carlson, 52, of Biwabik died Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Essentia Health-Northern Pines in Aurora.

Missy was born on July 16, 1971 to Edward and Donna (Hecomovich) Moe in Virginia. She attended graduated from the first class of Mesabi East in 1989. She furthered her education at Hibbing Community College. Missy had been employed by several restaurants. Missy became a mother to Courtney Elizabeth Lee Moe and the two of them moved from Hibbing to Aurora where Missy went to work for Vi’s Pizza. That is where Missy met Dave while working. A few years later on January 11, 1997 she was united in marriage to Dave Carlson in Las Vegas. Their family moved to Cottage Grove and Prescott before returning to Biwabik when they purchased the Alpine Bar in Biwabik. Upon returning to Biwabik, Missy had been happily employed by Poor Gary’s Pizza.

Survivors include her husband, David; daughter: Courtney (Garrett) Ross of Chisholm; grandchildren: Elijah and Kaylynn; her brother, Glenn Moe of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora.
